READINESS
Rookie-Level Assignment
The official assignment is Rookie. IQDugout displays the assignment as development context, not as an MLB-readiness grade.
CALL-UP OUTLOOK
Not Determined
Level alone cannot support an individual call-up judgment. Performance, health, roster status, role fit, and organization need would also have to be evaluated.

SCOUT REPORT
When most baseball fans think about Notre Dame High School talent in recent years, Hunter Greene (2017) comes to mind, with Giancarlo Stanton ten years earlier. The program hasn't had a position player taken in the top 10 rounds since 2009, but Madrid hopes to buck that trend this July. The catcher wasn't seen all that much on the summer showcase circuit but was impressing both area scouts and cross-checkers during his senior year, particularly with his work behind the dish. Madrid's calling card is his defense. His abilities behind the plate give him a very high floor, with some evaluators claiming he has the best arm of any young catcher they've seen this year. It's not just pure arm strength, as he also has a quick release and is very accurate controlling the running game. His overall defensive package, including receiving and blocking, is quite advanced. His ultimate ceiling will be determined by how much he hits. More than one scout gave a report that included a version of, if he hits at all, he's a big leaguer. The Oregon recruit does have some raw power that he's gotten to in games at times in front of evaluators, and a team that saw enough of that might look past the typically tough right-right high school catching profile to sign him away from his college commitment.
