SCOUT REPORT
People who say the path to professional baseball can be long and winding might have had Worley in mind. The St. Louis area native originally committed to Missouri for college ball, but switched gears and went the junior college route, heading to Amarillo College in Texas. From there, he headed west and threw well at Modesto Junior College, which helped him land a spot at Stony Brook University. After struggling with strikes and not getting a lot of mound time as a junior, the left-hander took a big step forward as the Seawolves' Friday night starter in 2026, making him a potentially intriguing senior sign option. Worley's combination of size (6-foot-5), arm strength and left-handedness is sure to intrigue teams on Day 2. He'll throw his fastball anywhere in the 92-99 mph range with good shapes. That plus heater was on display at the MLB Draft Combine in June, where he was up to 98 mph with nearly 20 inches of vertical break. He backs up that fastball with a hard low-80s slider that flashes plus and missed a ton of bats in 2026 -- 46 percent according to Synergy -- and he can also fold in an occasional upper-70s curve. He rarely threw his low-80s changeup, but he wants to make it a regular part of his arsenal as a pro. Adding that offspeed pitch and continuing to refine his command will be the keys for him to have a chance to keep starting at the next level. His improved strike-throwing was encouraging and a team could certainly give him the chance to stick in a rotation, knowing the fastball-slider combination from the left side could be dominant in shorter relief stints.
