READINESS
Single-A Assignment
The official assignment is Single-A. IQDugout displays the assignment as development context, not as an MLB-readiness grade.
CALL-UP OUTLOOK
Not Determined
Level alone cannot support an individual call-up judgment. Performance, health, roster status, role fit, and organization need would also have to be evaluated.
PROJECTION
Starting Pitcher
This is the player's currently listed role or position context, not a prediction of a future MLB role.
DEVELOPMENT RISK
Not Graded
Development risk is not graded from league level or draft year alone.
Ceiling is withheld until supported player-specific scouting or performance evidence is available.

Organization rank: Unavailable from current official MLB data
No exact or broad ETA is shown without supported individual performance, development, health, and roster evidence.
DEVELOPMENT TREND
Full-Season Development
The current official assignment is Single-A. Assignment level is factual context and is not treated as proof of promotion readiness.
IMPROVEMENT AREAS
- Evaluate sustained performance with level and age context
- Review role fit, health, roster status, and organization need
SCOUT REPORT
Borthwick entered the summer showcase circuit as a very large -- he's 6-foot-6 and listed at 255 pounds -- and intriguing two-way high school player from the Florida panhandle. He showed off skills at the plate, hitting .300 for Team USA at the WSBC U-18 World Cup in Japan, but he really took off with his work on the mound. After pitching well at events like the East Coast Pro Showcase and tossing 10 shutout innings for Team USA, earning tournament MVP honors, it's clear that his future as a pro will be as a right-handed hurler. Borthwick has the size, pitch mix and makeup to be a future workhorse starter near the top of a big league rotation one day. While he'll sit 93-95 mph mostly with his fastball, he's shown the ability to get the heater up to 97-98 mph with good life up in the zone and to both sides of the plate. His best secondary offering is a hard 84-85 mph slider that can flash plus and miss a ton of bats. He has a really good feel for spin, though at times he can try to do too much. There's some feel for a changeup with some fading action, but he doesn't use it much. While Borthwick can get a little east-west with his delivery, something very correctable, he shows the ability to pitch to all four quadrants effectively. He's a power-hitting corner infielder who could get the chance to do both should he go on to Auburn, but he profiles as the kind of high-ceiling arm that goes early enough to forego heading to campus.
