Hernandez registered on scouting radars as a Georgia prepster in 2024, but not enough for clubs to consider buying him away from Georgia Tech. He earned Atlantic Coast Conference freshman of the year accolades in 2025, starting games at six different spots (including one as a pitcher) and breaking Matt Wieters' freshman school record with 69 RBIs. Draft-eligible as a sophomore, he could factor in the top three rounds but also has struggled in ACC play and hasn't shown as much power this spring. Hernandez combines strength with good swing decisions to produce impressive exit velocities. But he also comes with some concerns at the plate, most notably his struggles to make contact against breaking balls. There's some arm bar in his right-handed stroke, which can get long and uphill, and he makes too much ground-ball contact while rarely pulling the ball. Though Hernandez has played a variety of positions, he's a below-average runner who's overmatched at second or third base. He's a fringy defender on the outfield corners and average at first. He does possess the arm strength for right field and pushed his fastball to 93 mph last year before concentrating on hitting as a sophomore.
