SCOUT REPORT
Born in Panama City, Guevara was Panama's top hitter at the 18-and-under World Cup in 2022 before his senior season at Georgia Premier Academy (Statesboro). Knee injuries limited him in his first two seasons at Auburn, but he was one of the best all-around players in the Southeastern Conference this spring. He batted .322/.399/.533 with 13 homers and earned SEC all-defensive honors at third base for the second straight year. Though Guevara has been productive with metal bats and generates good exit velocities, there are some questions about how he'll perform at the next level with wood. The right-handed hitter almost never turns on pitches, produces little power against quality fastballs and makes inconsistent contact against breaking balls and changeups. He has an aggressive approach and mainly concentrates on drilling line drives from gap to gap. An average runner, Guevara plays quicker than that at the hot corner. He's an agile defender with solid to plus arm strength, and he got the job done when he opened this season at shortstop. He also has seen action at second base and left field during his college career.
